Bathroom Niches – Our Favorite 5
Whenever we design a bathroom for a client, 9 times out of 10 we allow for a bathroom niche. This is usually within the shower and bath area, but we’ve been known to place them next to sinks too!
Bathroom niches are an extremely practical addition to pretty much every bathroom! And our clients wouldn’t be without one now. They great for creating storage in the shower and bath area to hide bottles and toiletries. A niche in these areas allows for a seamless and sleek look. Gone are the days of having a metal wall-mounted shower rack to house bottles – a bathroom niche allows for a clean and tidy area.
As we have incorporated bathroom niches into many of our bathroom design projects, we wanted to share our top 5 favorite bathroom niches today! We’re going to delve into the whys and hows of each of them too.
Let’s take a closer look at Our 5 Favorite Bathroom Niches!
1. His and Hers Shower
For this large primary bathroom remodel, our clients asked for a freestanding tub and a shower big enough for two! We delivered with style and personality thanks to some pretty amazing feature tiles. Using the size of these tiles we created a really wide bathroom niche that will serve both clients well in the years to come.
There’s actually a built-in light in this niche too!
2. Guest Shower-Over-Bath Combo
In this guest bathroom project, we replaced the bathtub and installed new fixtures to give the shower-over-bath combo a fresh look. Pair that with some creative bathroom tiles to add some color and you’ve got a beautiful new bathroom!
Within the bath and shower area we added a bathroom niche to provide storage for guests. This niche is tall and vertical, and pushed back with a mini button tile and glass shelves to make it feel light and airy.
3. A Timeless Primary Bathroom
For this primary bathroom project, we installed a bathroom niche at the entrance to the shower area. Closed off with glass doors and a built-in marble tiled bench, this shower is full of class and sophistication.
The niche here has been tiled with an accent tile that picks up on the main feature wall of the shower enclosure. Our clients can now step into their timeless shower with ease and enjoy a spa-like experience with every shower.
4. Primary Bathroom With Character
In this primary bathroom project we installed a large shower enclosure that features water jets and different tiles. This bathroom lacked storage space before we redesigned it so a bathroom niche was non-negotiable! Adding a niche into the shower enclosure keeps bottles neat and tidy, off the shower floor, and gives them plenty of extra storage.
We used a fun colored penny tile on the back to create a feature of the niche. This niche was positioned at a height most convenient for our clients to use.
5. Light and Airy Bathroom
This bathroom project is full of light and airy materials to make the space look and feel bigger than it is. Our client was struggling with their previous bathroom design as it lacked storage, so the brief was “storage, storage, storage!” We designed a custom vanity unit with additional storage to the walls above.
Not only that, we added a bathroom niche to one of the walls to the bathtub. The niche provides more storage for our clients, and makes it easy to access items when taking a bath or shower. Fitted with a light, the niche is filled with light bouncing off the handmade tiles and glass shelves.
