Blue Kitchens – A Timeless and Versatile Color for Kitchens
Did you know that the most requested kitchen color from our clients is blue? Yes – really! It’s no secret that blue kitchens are extremely popular, and that’s because of the timeless appeal. Many of our clients have felt safe in making the choice to have blue cabinets in their new kitchens because even though it’s a “proper color”, it’s one that won’t go out of style. Others are more hesitant to commit, but ask for blue to be integrated into the design.
Not only that – blue complements a wide variety of other finishes used in a kitchen. From hardware to countertops, and kitchen faucets, blue often complements them effortlessly.
This timelessness and versatility of blue kitchen cabinets is what makes them so sought after.
Today we’re going to share some Blue Kitchens we have designed and delve into some of the details.
Extra-Long Kitchen Island
For this kitchen remodel project, we created a spectacularly long kitchen island that provides this family with an abundance of storage space (that they were previously lacking). We kept the main wall side of tall cabinets surrounding the range, an off-white neutral color so that the island could take center stage.
We also integrated blue in the wallpaper in the breakfast area, the window treatments, and the frames on the wall. Little pops of blue throughout the space add harmony and cohesiveness to the kitchen design.
The blue kitchen island takes center stage of this large kitchen and dining space. The client requested blue because it’s a timeless color that can be used with a variety of other finishes and colors. Blue and white is a classic color combination, and we love how this kitchen turned out!
Small But Mighty
A small kitchen doesn’t have to lack personality. In this kitchen renovation we chose to keep the main cabinets a neutral color in order to bounce more natural light around the space, thus making it look and feel larger.
As we like to inject personality and style into our projects, we uplifted the kitchen with some feature mosaic tiles on the backsplash! This adds a hint of color that doesn’t overpower the space. Not only that, it connects the living and dining area of this home with the kitchen space so the whole area feels connected and cohesive.
Traditional Kitchen Renovation
In this kitchen project, one wall gets demolished to connect the space to a dining area, and therefore allows for a peninsula and feature lighting above. In contrast to the other projects shared here, all the kitchen cabinets are painted in a beautiful navy blue color. The only neutral colors used in this space are the countertop and wood stained upper cabinets!
We love how blue is the main cabinet color in this project!
A Blue Island
Similarly to the Extra-Large Kitchen Island project above, this kitchen project has a feature blue kitchen island in the center of the space, with traditional off-white cabinets to the perimeter of the space. The blue kitchen island adds contrast from the perimeter cabinets and injects color into the kitchen!
Light Blue Island
In contrast to the darker blue kitchens above, this kitchen project features a light blue shade for the kitchen island to match with the soft blue backsplash tiles. Using a lighter shade of blue in this client’s home provided them with the confidence to embrace color in a more subtle way.
Bright and Bold
Do you prefer going all out in your kitchen? Use blue as the main cabinet color throughout! Blue is a timeless color that will never go out of style, and our client has really embraced this here. They love to introduce bold patterns and colors in their home so using blue cabinets throughout was a no brainer for them.
We’d love to know what you think about these blue kitchen designs! Which one is your favorite? Let us know!
