Firstly, let’s take a look at touch. Winter itself is the perfect time of year to incorporate thicker textures throughout the home.
Make sure your bedrooms have throw blankets draped over the end of the beds, and your living room areas have folded blankets or are draped over sofas or armchairs. Swap out the cotton throw blankets for thick knitted blankets or faux fur throws.
Throw blankets aren’t all! Decorative pillows are another fantastic way of incorporating thicker and warmer textures into the home for Christmas. Embrace the colors of the festive season with plain decorative pillows or choose patterned ones with a Christmas theme, like a beautifully embroidered wreath motif.
2. Candles to Smell
Nothing feels like Christmas without the rich fragrances to smell. On the lead up to the big day, we love to switch out reed diffusers and candles for winter spiced scented ones instead.
Many scented candles for Christmas use a blend of cinnamon and nutmeg, but if that’s not your thing then try pine and fir or cedar to add an aroma reminiscent of freshly cut Christmas trees. If you prefer something sweeter then look towards scents with vanilla blended in.
